Michael Batten, 34, Albert Lea

A memorial service for Michael T. Batten will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 27, at the Bonnerup Funeral Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Michael died unexpectedly at his home on Feb. 23, 2014. He was 34 years old.

Michael was born June 4, 1979, to Lisa Batten and Thomas D. Batten Jr. in Martinsburg, W. Va. When he was young, Michael moved to Albert Lea where he attended school. After his schooling, he went to work for Brown Printing, followed by Ring Can Co. and Southland Corp.

Michael was confirmed at the Hayward Lutheran Church. As an adult, Michael became a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

Michael enjoyed computers, music, fishing and most of all, playing video games. Michael leaves behind a close pet, Zoey. Michael was caring, generous, intelligent and most of all, he loved his family. He was very good with kids and children often gravitated to Michael. Overall, Michael was a big kid at heart.

Michael is survived by his wife, Sandra; children Jade Anfinson, Eva Jensen, Dakota Jensen and Kristine Bergeron; grandchildren Javier Gayton and Clara Gayton; parents Thomas D. Batten Jr. and Lisa Batten; siblings Brandon (Kassi) Batten-Reich; nieces and nephews Jordis Abendroth, Tavn Batten-Abendroth, Addison Batten and Alicia Warren; a brother in-law, Scott Abendroth; as well as many other aunts, uncles and other loving relatives.

Michael is preceded in death by his sister, Stephanie Marie Abendroth and his grandparents, William (Nancy) Fiddler and Larry (Mary) Stanley.

Michael will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
