The NRHEG girls’ basketball team rode its defense to its 50th straight win, dating back to Dec. 7, 2012.
The Panthers built a 20-point lead at halftime and held the Tigers to four points in the second half en route to a 72-26 win.
“The kids came out in the second half and worked very hard on defense, not allowing a field goal,” said NRHEG head coach John Schultz. “It was a great team win, and we saw what our reserves could do in a close game as well.”
Nine players scored for the Panthers. Carlie Wagner outscored Medford by herself with 27 points. Marnie Wagner added 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Next, NRHEG (20-0 overall, 11-0 Gopher Conference) will host Randolph at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
