The Freeborn Co. Genealogical Society 

The Freeborn County Genealogical Society at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 13 at the Historical Museum.  It was voted to have the February and March meetings at 10 a.m. instead of 10:30.  Dates for the next trip to Salt Lake City to research at the Family History Library are Nov. 9 to 15. The program was an Ancestry video on favorite resources of professional genealogists. The next meeting will be at 10 a.m Feb. 10 and the program will be ancestry DNA kit and results.

The Ascension Lutheran Church Women of ELCA held their regular monthly meeting on Feb. 9. Co-president Doris Guenther called the meeting to order. Doris led devotions, “Friends in Our Home,” closing with a prayer of hospitality.

• Secretary’s report was given by Lorraine Schaper. Ruth Ruland, Mission in Action, reported the quilting group has begun work on graduation quilts.

• There was discussion on the kitchen and wedding committee. There were comments that for events using the fellowship hall, it would be helpful to have a representative present in the kitchen. Further consideration will be given at n.ext monthly meeting if needed.

• Changes were suggested to the handbook, including a request for advertising. Jane Pearson will chair guest night. The date has yet to be scheduled.

• A confirmation reception is scheduled for May 3.

• A Bible Study Circle is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 9. Marian Circle volunteered to host.

• There was a discussion on shopping for new window blinds in the fellowship hall.

• Alice Jensen announced that she will be getting a box ready for Easter to send to the military. She has put a box out to collect items to send.

• The Blue Earth River Conference will be April 5 at United Lutheran Church in Walters.

• The next WELCA monthly meeting will be at 9:25 a.m. March 9.
