Pauline Wach, 81, Albert Lea

Pauline Wach, 81, of Albert Lea, formerly of Alden, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. The Rev. Pauline was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Thompson, Iowa, to Albert and Nellie (Olson) Hansen. She was baptized Aug. 29, 1937, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Thompson, Iowa. Pauline attended country schools in Iowa until November 1944 when the family moved to Alden. She was confirmed at the Danish Lutheran Church in Alden. Pauline graduated from Alden High School in 1950, and after graduation she worked at Wells Cleaners. She was united in marriage to Lewis H. Wach Dec. 28, 1951, at First Lutheran Church in Alden. In 1953, the couple farmed the Wach home place. Pauline also worked at Montgomery Ward, Del Monte, Kaffee Hus Café and The Shepherd’s Inn. She belonged to the Wells Legion Auxiliary for 54 years. In 2007, Pauline moved to Albert Lea. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, caring for flowers and reading. Pauline loved spending time with her family — especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pauline is survived by five children, Virginia (David) Bennett of Albert Lea, Daniel Wach of Minnesota Lake, Douglas (Dorothy) Wach of Wells, Kenneth (Kay Janssen) Wach of Alden, Jon (Christina) Wach of Wells; 10 grandchildren, Paul (Jenni) Bennett of Austin, Chris (Erin) Bennett of Albert Lea, Jeremy Wach of Lakewood, Colo., Jamie Wach of Blue Earth, Brooke Wach of Eagle Lake, Jessica Flatness (Nick Nasby) of Albert Lea, Ryan Wach of Lakewood, Colo., Nicholas Wach of Alden, Kaden Becker (fianceé Haley Yost) of Wells and Hanna Wach of Wells; 10 great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Breanne Bennett, Jordan and Skylar Wach, Alex Boettcher, Alannah Flatness, Dylan Callahan, Jayden Bennett, Nick Laite and Autumn Hamberg; a sister, Ann Tatarek; a brother, Donnie (Elaine) Hansen; sisters-in law and brothers-in-law Betty Hansen, Rose Boyer, Teresa Stenzel and Karen (David) McKean.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lewis; infant brother; infant son; sisters Margaret Dickerson and Marian Halverson; a brother, Carl Hanson and two brothers-in-law, Louis Stenzel and Walter Boyer.
