The public is invited to learn more about the roundabout project slated for the junction of U.S. Highway 14 and Minnesota Highway 42 at a public meeting April 9.
The open house is scheduled from 4:30 to 7 p.m., in the commons of Dover-Eyota High School, 615 South Ave. SW, Eyota.
Representatives from the Minnesota Department of Transportation will be available to answer questions and provide information about the intersection project, which is scheduled for construction in 2015 near Eyota.
The project is estimated to cost $3.98 million. Construction is slated to start in the summer of 2015 and completed that fall.
The project website states: “This intersection has experienced increasing traffic volumes and, subsequently, the accident rate at this location has increased as well. This increase in crash frequency has generated a need for intersection safety improvements.”
A roundabout intersection allows traffic to slow down without stopping, improving driver attentiveness and safety.
