ALDEN — It is not often that a headlining act from Branson, Mo., performs in a small community in southern Minnesota, but that is exactly what is happening on Saturday in Alden.
The Duttons, a family of performers, have been entertaining people in Branson since 1997. Mom Sheila and Dad Dean lead the Dutton family. They have 14 children, seven natural children and seven adopted children. A total of five children are performing in the act at all times.
Alden resident Gary Newman is responsible for the opportunity for area residents to enjoy a headlining Branson show.
“I feel so many can’t get to Branson whether it be for health reasons or finances, so I wanted to bring Branson to them,” he said. “The Duttons are a very talented and nice family. If people walk away disappointed, I will be surprised. They are so great. We even have snowbirds calling for tickets before they come home.”
The Dutton family is famous for beautiful harmonies, dancing, comedy and versatility. Each member plays numerous instruments. The Duttons music includes everything from bluegrass, classical, gospel to country and rock ’n’ roll. This family has won many musical awards and also were in the top 10 finalists for NBC’s “American’s Got Talent.”
Not only are the Duttons award-winning performers, but the family also has expanded into the business arena. The family business includes two theaters, one in Branson and one in Mesa, Ariz., a motel and a gift shop. Various members of the Dutton family are involved in running all of these venues.
Mark your calendars 7 p.m. at the Alden-Conger School gymnasium. Tickets are available at Wells Federal in Wells, American Bank in Alden, American Bank in Albert Lea and from Alden American Legion members and Alden Area Lions Club members. Ticket seekers also can call 507-383-9956.
