The Albert Lea girls’ golf team advanced to the Section 2AA tournament by taking second place at the Subsection 2AA South meet Tuesday at North Links Golf Course.

Mankato East won the tournament and will advance at the other team, said Albert Lea coach Shawn Riebe.

The top two teams and the top 10 individuals in each subsection qualified for the Section 2AA tournament.

The Tigers completed the course in 392 strokes, and they had two players who finished in the top five, said Albert Lea coach Shawn Riebe.

Samantha Nielsen shot a 90 to lead Albert Lea and take third place overall. Chelsey Battle finished fifth overall with a score of 92.

Cammy Tewes and Mady Dahl rounded out the Tigers scoring with a 104 and 106, respectively.

Next, Albert Lea will play at the Section 2AA tournament at 10 a.m. Monday at New Prague Golf Course.
