The Albert Lea girls’ golf team earned a runner-up finish in a quad hosted by Rochester John Marshall Tuesday at Northern Hills Golf Course.

Winona took first place by completing the course in 363 strokes. Albert Lea shot a 419, and Faribault and John Marshall tied with scores of 466. Faribault won the tie-breaker.

Albert Lea’s four scorers finished between 100 and 110 strokes. Chelsey Battle led the way with a 101. Mady Dahl took the second spot at 105. Samantha Nielsen hit a 106, and Cammy Tewes, a 107.

Tigers coach Shawn Riebe said the team is hoping for scores below 100 and is working on consistency.

Next, Albert Lea will compete at the Big Nine conference tournament at 10 a.m. Thursday at Owatonna Country Club.
