The Albert Lea boys’ soccer team notched its first win of the season Thursday in its home opener against Byron.

The Tigers (1-2 overall, 0-1 Big Nine Conference) scored their first goals of the season and took a 2-0 lead at halftime en route to a 4-1 victory.

“The team really came together and moved the ball well,” said Albert Lea coach Joe Squires.

Schafer Overgaard led the Tigers with two goals. Jerry Halstead and Nate Nelson scored one goal each.

Foster Otten led Albert Lea with six saves.
