Albert Lea volleyball team beats Burnsville

The Albert Lea volleyball team headed into its conference schedule with a 3-1 win Tuesday at Burnsville.

The Tigers lost Game 1, but rebounded with three straight victories starting with a 25-23 win in Game 2. Albert Lea won by the same score in Game 3 and finished off the Blaze with a 25-21 win in Game 4.

Camryn Keyeski played a balanced match and led Albert Lea with 12 kills and 15 digs. Hope Landsman added 10 kills and 11 digs. Kass Jansen and Taylor Willis combined with 27 digs.

Julia Deyak led the Tigers from the setter position with 31 assists and three blocks.

Albert Lea (1-3 overall, 0-0 Big Nine Conference) began the season with losses against Holy Family Catholic, Chaska and Apple Valley.

The Tigers will look to build on their first win of the season in their home opener at 7:15 p.m. Thursday against Mankato East.

The Cougars are 0-3 with losses against Winona, Jackson County Central and Northfield.
