Against some of the top competition in the state, the Lake Mills volleyball team took second place Saturday at the Forest City Tournament.
The Bulldogs, ranked No. 11 in the Class 2A polls, avenged a loss earlier this season against No. 15 (3A) Algona with a 2-1 victory.
“It was a great win for us,” said Lake Mills coach Jim Boehmer. “We respect Algona’s program, so to get this win when we lost set No. 1, it was critical for our program.”
Lake Mills also beat Spencer, Clear Lake and Spirit Lake.
In the championship game, the Bulldogs played No. 13 (3A) Forest City, a team they beat 3-2 earlier this season. However, the Indians won the rematch 2-0.
Statistics for the tournament are in the Scoreboard: Sept. 20 post.
