Report: he was wearing seat belt

LAKE MILLS — A 36-year-old man died Saturday night after his car went off the road and struck a tree south of Lake Mills.

Thomas Lamarr Preyer IV of Lake Mills was reportedly driving a 1988 Oldsmobile Regency south on Winnebago County Road R74 near 420th Street at 11:39 p.m. when the crash occurred, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

The State Patrol report states Preyer was wearing his seat belt. he was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Mason City.

It is unclear why he left the roadway, and the report made no indication of whether alcohol was involved.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Mills Fire and Ambulance and Forest City paramedics assisted at the scene.
