Albert Lea’s Katie Schwarz had a busy day in the goal.
New Prague had more than four times as many shots on goal in the third period than the Tigers had in the game, and the Trojans won 6-1 Friday in the first round of the Trojan Thanksgiving Tournament.
Despite being outshot 62-7, the game was tied eight minutes into the second period. After a goal by New Prague’s Jordan Anderson in the first period, Albert Lea’s Hannah Savelkoul scored the equalizer on a pass from Madi Herrera.
However, the Tigers were unable to withstand the barrage of shots. Despite giving up six shots, Schwarz posted a .903 save percentage, which was better than New Prague’s Sydney Culshawn, who posted a .857 save percentage.

Next, Albert Lea (1-5 overall, 1-4 Big Nine Conference) will host Faribault at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Falcons (0-5 overall, 0-4 Big Nine Conference) have lost twice by one goal, and they are coming off a 4-3 loss at Austin.
Last year, Faribault swept Albert Lea 2-1 and 4-2.
