Man reportedly struck with meat cleaver

Albert Lea police received a report at 11:16 p.m. Wednesday from the emergency room at Mayo Clinic Health System of Albert Lea that there was a 26-year-old man who had been assaulted with a four-inch meat cleaver.

The man had reportedly suffered a three-inch open gash on the top of his forearm.

According to police, the man stated one of his roommates had assaulted him but did not provide information about the identity. He did not want to press charges and was given a card for the Crime Victims Crisis Center.

 

Dryer fire reported

MYRTLE — A small grain dryer fire was reported at 12:39 p.m. Sunday at the co-op in Myrtle, 11801 903rd Ave. The fire was put out by the Myrtle Fire Department.

 

Vehicle runs into hay bales

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 9:27 a.m. Sunday that a vehicle had hit several bales of hay at 28933 872nd Ave. in Newry Township.

 

Man cited for shoplifting

Albert Lea police cited David Michael Whelan, 54, for theft at 8:30 p.m. Friday at Walmart, 1550 Blake Ave.

 

Van stolen 

A white Chevy Astro van was reported stolen at 3:41 p.m. Sunday from 719 Marshall St.

 

Items stolen out of vehicle

A Samsung Galaxy notebook and a HP computer were reported stolen at 4:17 p.m. Saturday out of a vehicle at 1619 W. Main St.

 

Man arrested for DWI

Albert Lea police arrested Jason Christopher Kraft, 42, for driving while intoxicated at 9:40 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of West Seventh Street and South Broadway.

 

Apartment broken into

An apartment at 213 S. Washington Ave. was reported broken into at 2:01 a.m. Sunday. Nothing was missing.
