The Albert Lea school board has extended the time normally dedicated to the open forum for the meeting tonight.
The school board agenda said it will accept comments relating to the proposed adjusted calendar for a half hour starting at 5 p.m. The board meets at Brookside Education Center, 211 W. Richway Drive. Each speaker will have two minutes.
“This is a time of listening by the school board,” the agenda notes.
The school board is slated to vote tonight on the issue of the school calendar. The vote is scheduled to be followed by a 10-minute recess.
The proposal calls for starting school in mid-August and ending it at Memorial Day, with additional breaks through the year primarily for the sake of remedial education but also with plans to provide enrichment for students not needed remedial assistance.
Later in the meeting, the board is scheduled to review the district bullying policy, to approve bids to work on the heating and cooling at Lakeview Elementary School and to designate the means by which is calls for bids and requests.
