Weekend Planner: Belgian waffle breakfasts return

Belgian waffles return to the lineup of events this weekend.

The TTT nonprofit organization will hold a breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bethany Hall at First Lutheran Church, 301 W. Clark St.

TTT is an organization of women that has a mission of providing camp experience for fourth-grade girls. The name derives from “time, talent and treasures.”

All proceeds of the waffle breakfast will go toward scholarships for the girls going to camp. These girls might not get the experience of going to camp otherwise.

Tickets are $7 and are available from any TTT member and at the door.

 

Friday

Enjoy a fish fry at St. Theodore Catholic Church, 315 E. Clark St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Hand battered fish, chicken strips, coleslaw, potatoes, dinner rolls and ice cream sundae bars will be served. Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children.

 

Saturday

The Fab 5 & Friends will be at the Fairlane Building at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds, 1031 Bridge Ave., from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The 29th annual Holiday Craft Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alden-Conger Public School, 215 N. Broadway, Alden. The event is free, and noon lunch is available for purchase.

The Albert Lea Farmers Market will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. inside Northbridge Mall, 2510 Bridge Ave.

The Alley Katz Band will play Christmas music at the Albert Lea American Legion Club, 142 N. Broadway, at 2 p.m. The event is free.

The Glenville American Legion Auxiliary will have a steak fry from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Glenville American Legion Club, 331 W. Main St., Glenville. Cost is $13. Kids meals are available.

Enjoy some swing dancing from 7 to 11 p.m. at Prairie Wind Coffee, 211 S. Broadway Ave.

The Holiday Lanes Youth Lock-In will begin at 11 p.m. at Holiday Lanes, 522 Prospect Ave. Doors lock at midnight. For $20, kids can bowl and play games all night long. The lock-in ends at 7 a.m. Sunday.

 

Sunday

The Albert Lea Alano Society will serve breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the Alano Society, 1005 Ulstad Ave.

Enjoy breakfast at the Masonic Lodge, 147 N. Broadway, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Amaranth pancakes, eggs, sausages, juice, milk and coffee will be served. Suggested donation is $7.

A pancake breakfast fundraiser for the Albert Lea U12 girl’s hockey team’s tournament in Chicago will be from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 205 W. William St. Pancakes, eggs, sausage and biscuits and gravy will be served. Cost is $8.
