Barbara Rosemarie Hulten was born Sept. 29, 1921, in Rockford, Ill., the beloved daughter of Ernest and Anna (Englund) Hulten. She was a high school graduate.

On June 9, 1945, Barb was united in marriage to Jim Bartel in Rockford. Barb, Jim, Kathi and Danny moved to LeRoy in 1963, where Barb lived until July 2013 when she moved to Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea.

Barb worked at Martz Furniture for several years but her primary calling was as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was always willing to help someone — taking folks to appointments, shopping, church and most anything that was asked of her. Her mother, Anna, made her home in Barb’s home in LeRoy for 20 years and they were an amazing pair.

Barb leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Kathi (Dave) Hanson, of Albert Lea; son, Danny (Rhonda Madetske) Bartel, of LeRoy; grandchildren Greg (Chelsea) Hanson of Albert Lea, Ryan (Jill) Hanson of Byron, Nikki Bartel of Glenville and Dylan (Sarah Segura) Bartel of Glenville; great-grandchildren Levi, Riley, Brooke, Trent, Tricia, Isabel and Indiana; sister, Phyllis Doherty, of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Marlene (Bob) Mareth of Monett, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and devoted special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Anna; beloved husband, Jim; and granddaughter, Stacey Hanson.

Rest in peace, Mom. Your family loves you.
