Dennis Lee Orvedal, 66, of Northwood died Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Those wishing to give a memorial in his memory may wish to consider memorial contributions to Hospice of North Iowa.

Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S. in Northwood, is in charge of the arrangements.

Dennis L. Orvedal was born June 17, 1948, the son of John and Mayme (Dralla) Orvedal. Dennis attended Northwood-Kensett public schools. Dennis worked as a machine operator for Streater’s manufacturing in Albert Lea. He was united in marriage to Helen Hotson April 15, 1967, in Kensett and to this marriage three daughters were born, Annette, Jody and Stacie.

Dennis enjoyed special times with his family and also enjoyed attending races with them.

Dennis was a member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen Orvedal, of Northwood; his daughters Annette Orvedal and special friend, Bob Sansgaard, of Northwood, Jody (Danny) Jones of Northwood and Stacie (Dan) Dingman of Mason City; two grandchildren, Alli and Hunter Dingman; his two sisters, Gertie Goodale of Osage and Carolyn (Richard) Thayer of Jewell; sister-in-law, Judy Orvedal, of Blue Earth; as well as nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents John and Mayme Orvedal; his brother, John Orvedal; brothers-in-law Dale Goodale and Richard Hotson; and his mother and father-in-law Sylvia and Dean Hotson.
