ST. PAUL — A St. Paul man has been sentenced to 90 days in the workhouse for concealing and moving the body of a friend who had died in his house.
Authorities said the death of Rahel Nigusse in June was linked to poor health and a likely diabetic reaction. Her relatives said John Stanton should have called for help, but instead left her body in a closet for days and then moved it to some woods.
The 64-year-old Stanton earlier pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor count of interfering with a dead body. Stanton told police he panicked after Nigusse died because his wife had recently been murdered in his apartment. A former boyfriend has been charged in the death of Stanton’s wife, Towanda Harris.
