Scarlets take down Tigers

In search of its second Big Nine Conference win, the Albert Lea girls’ basketball team fell short Friday at home.
Mankato West overcame an eight-point first-half deficit to beat the Tigers 65-47.
Albert Lea was without a starter, Katie Rasmussen, but Alli Christenson took her place and contributed six points, two rebounds, a steal and an assist.
“Alli stepped into the role, hustled and played really well,” said Tigers coach Lindsey Hugstad-Vaa. “It was her first varsity start.”
Megan Kortan led Albert Lea scoring and on the glass with 25 points and eight rebounds. Rachel Rehnelt added eight points, and Fran Eckstrom had seven points and six rebounds.
Next, the Tigers (1-6 overall, 1-5 Big Nine Conference) will host Waseca (6-1 overall, 2-1 Big South Conference) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Bluejays are coming off a 37-32 home loss against Blue Earth.
