ST. PAUL — More than 22,000 books are on their way from Minnesota to Liberian students out of school because of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
Books For Africa plans a ceremony recognizing the shipment at its St. Paul warehouse Tuesday.
The container is on its way to Liberia, but Books For Africa is preparing additional books for shipment next year.
Ahmed Sirleaf, an adviser at the U.S. Embassy in Liberia, will attend Tuesday’s ceremony and give an update on how the books will be distributed to Liberian families.
Also attending will be Maj. Gen. Neal Loidolt of the Minnesota National Guard. Loidolt will be commander of U.S. ground forces, including members of the 34th Red Bull Infantry Division, being deployed to Liberia next year to help stop the spread of Ebola.
