From 1956 to 2014, Sherwin Linton has been performing the classic sounds of Elvis, Marty Robbins, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly and Johnny Cash.
Albert Leans once again will get a chance to see Linton; The Sherwin Linton 2014 Christmas Show and Johnny Cash Tribute will be coming to Albert Lea this weekend.
Linton’s show will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Lighthouse Theatre & Event Center, 621 Marshall St.
Linton has charted 20 records nationally, including the holiday anti-drunk driving song “Santa Got a DWI,” which has sold over a million copies, according to a press release.
Linton’s newest record, “Highway Headin’ South,” features his wife Pam Linton as well as his band, The Cotton Kings.
After learning piano and guitar as a child and having his own radio show in Watertown, S.D., Linton formed many bands over the course of his career. He also went to Nashville and cut “Cotton King” in 1966, which put him on the top of the charts, according to his biography on his website.
In over 45 years, Linton has never missed a performance, and he often plays over 250 dates a year.
Tickets to Linton’s show are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, and they are available at Marshall Street Music, Hy-Vee, Stadheim Jewelers and the Albert Lea Convention & Visitors Bureau.
