The Lake Mills wrestling team went undefeated in five duals and Andrew Olsen earned his 100th career win Saturday at the Hampton-Dumont Duals, according to a press release.

The day began with a 45-27 win over East Buchanan, who went on to place third.

The second round pitted the top two teams as Lake Mills outlasted host Hampton-Dumont 45-33.

The back-and-forth dual was tied at 33 with two matches remaining. Up next in the 145 pound bout, Scott Wogen trailed 6-2 and reversed Caleb Chaney to his back and pinned him. Wogen’s pin sealed the meet as Hampton-Dumont had moved their 152 pound wrestler up to wrestle 160 earlier in the dual.

“The first two duals of the day decided who was going to with the tournament,” said Lake Mills coach Alex Brandenburg. “There were some ups and downs in the second meet but in the end we were able to come out on top.”

Lake Mills went on to win three more duals beating Hudson 65-9, Northwood-Kensett 64-15, and Central Springs 49-28.

“We definitely did not wrestle our best today, but I think a lot of that had to do with the weather and only getting to practice once this week,” Brandenburg said. “That being said, it is nice to have enough depth in our lineup to not wrestle our best and still win a tournament.”

The tournament also awarded wrestlers who got first or second in their respective weight classes.

First place finishers were Alex Martinson, Slade Sifuentes, and Andrew Olsen.

Placing second for Lake Mills were Braedon Edwards, Max Bergo, Brady Schmidt, and Cole Bergo.

Andrew Olsen reached a career milestone by getting his 100th career win by pinning Marcus Brandt of Northwood-Kensett.

“Andrew has had a great career and a tremendous season,” Brandenburg said. “He is currently 24-0 on the season and has pinned all but one of his opponents.”
