Alice Feuerhelm, 1929-2015

The funeral service for Alice A. Feuerhelm of Albert Lea will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Theodore’s Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Timothy T. Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery.
Alice died Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester at the age of 85.
Alice was born Aug. 25, 1929, the daughter of Joseph J. and Agnes (Cegla) Sonnek, in Wells. She graduated from Wells High School and then moved to Albert Lea, where she worked at Wilson & Co. and where she met Wayne H. Feuerhelm. They married Nov. 8, 1952, and resided in Albert Lea where she raised her family. She worked at Thorne Crest Retirement Community for 17 years. She was a member of St. Theodore’s Catholic Church, CCW, Eagles Auxiliary, the Albert Lea Trades and Labor Retirees Club and was a volunteer at Thorne Crest Retirement Community and St. Theodore’s Catholic Church Loaves and Fishes.
Alice is survived by a son, David, of Cary, Illinois; daughters Connie (Denis) Fink of De Pere, Wisconsin, Lori Sorensen of Peoria, Arizona, Jill (Mike) Westney of Albert Lea and Judy (Rick) Indrelie of Rochester; grandchildren Rachel and Trey Feuerhelm of Cary, Taylor Vigeland of Arlington, Virginia, Chad Vigeland of De Pere, Logan Fink of De Pere, Justin Sorensen of Peoria, Whitney (Sorensen) Katzenbach and husband, Jeff, of Japan, Hayley Westney of Albert Lea, Kelsey (Westney) Eide and husband, Nicholas, of Hollandale, Jace Indrelie of Ankeny, Iowa, and Alisse Indrelie of Vadnais Heights; great-grandchildren Kaylyn, Braiden and Tayven Eide of Hollandale; sister, Olive Hefner, of Albert Lea; brother, George (Pat) Sonnek, of Wells; sisters-in-law Vicky Sonnek of Wells, Bernice Sonnek of Wells, LaVonne Kuchera of Albert Lea and Marion Sonnek of Wells; brother-in-law, Ralph Huxford, of Waseca; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; four brothers, Ralph, Jerome, Joseph and Donald; two sisters, Marian Thompson and Elaine Huxford; brothers-in-law Leo Hefner and Larry Thompson; and sister-in-law, Myrtle Sonnek.
Alice loved her family. She enjoyed volunteering at the church and nursing home. She loved to garden, enjoyed coffee with friends, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. Her best friend, Gerry Gilbertson, shared in all of her life experiences and she loved her as a sister. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend and will be sadly missed by all.
