Arnold Oniel Brunsvold, died Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea from lung cancer.

A funeral service for Arnold will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 320 W. College St. in Albert Lea, with the Rev. James Kassera officiating. Burial will be in Somber Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lake Mills. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. S. in Northwood. Visitation will also be one hour prior to service time Tuesday at the church.

Arnold Oniel Brunsvold was born June 2, 1921, in Hanlontown, Iowa, the son of George and Emma (Lee) Brunsvold. He was baptized and reaffirmed the faith of his baptism through confirmation at Somber Lutheran Church in rural Lake Mills. He attended elementary and high school in Hanlontown.

He was united in marriage to Evelyn Ewald June 21, 1942, at Zion Lutheran Church in Northwood. She preceded him in death July 20, 2006. Together they lived in rural Northwood, rural Hanlontown and Forest City, and most recently in Albert Lea.

Arnold worked as a farmer, farm implement salesman, business owner, car salesman, oil salesman, road construction worker, delivered Winnebago motor homes, was an auctioneer and had a windshield repair business.

Arnold enjoyed dancing at the Eagles in Albert Lea with his wife, Evelyn, and in later years with his special friend, Marcie Severson. He especially enjoyed family gatherings over the years with his children and grandchildren.

Arnold’s family lovingly remembers many quotes, stories and words of wisdom he shared with them, many of which will be repeated for years to come.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children Patricia (Bill) Searles of Albert Lea, Travis (Marcia) Brunsvold of Bettendorf, Iowa, Marilyn (Dick) Helling of Hudson, Iowa, Judy Benson and fiance, Bob Utech, of Forest City and Gary Brunsvold and special friend, Cheri McMurphy, of Tuttle, Oklahoma; special friend, Marcella “Marcie” Severson, of Albert Lea; grandchildren Troy (Lisa) Christiansen, Marnie (Mike) Mueller, Shannon (Lori) Christiansen, Natalie (Josh) Hewitt, Jesse Brunsvold, Nicole (Brian) Bradley, Kristopher (Brooke) Helling, Aaron (Melissa) Helling, Missy Helling, Tiffany (Dave) Finke, Morgan Brunsvold and Garrett Brunsvold; great-grandchildren Taylor Christiansen, Calli Christiansen, Samantha Mueller, Dylan Mueller, Brooke Mueller, Hanna Hewitt, Jackson Hewitt, Sadie Christiansen, Kale Helling, Liam Helling, Karson Helling, Scarlett Helling, Carter Finke, Reece Finke and Cooper Finke; his sister, Alice Charlson, of Hanlontown; many nieces and nephews; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; his wife, Evelyn; a daughter who died in infancy; his son, Larry; his grandson, Jerimy; great-grandson, baby boy Christiansen; two brothers, Leon and Earl Brunsvold; and two sisters, Myrtle Flugum and Blanche Anderson.
