Gerald Emmons, 1928-2015

Gerald Duane “Bub” Emmons of Edina, died peacefully on March 7, 2015, after spending the final days of his life with people who loved him.
Gerald was born on March 12, 1928, in Albert Lea, the third of six children to parents Lawrence “Cap” and Clarette Sanden Emmons.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marjorie (Johnson) Emmons; and siblings Carol “Kie” Lockhart and Ardath Emmons. He is survived by daughter, Mary Bergaas; granddaughter, Beth Snyder (Brent); great-grandchildren Stephen August Snyder and Preston Emmons Snyder; siblings Helen Spell (George); Carmen Higashi (Richard) and Warren Emmons (Ronald Bendixen); sister-in law, Beth Emmons, and brother-in law, Jim Lockhart (Ana), and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1946 and from the University of Dubuque in 1950. During his school years he excelled as an athlete in football, which he continued to play while stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army. He spent the majority of his career as a salesman for Kaiser Aluminum. His two biggest loves were his family and the outdoors, particularly fishing, which he most enjoyed sharing with his loved ones. In addition to being beloved as a husband, father and grandfather, Gerald was known by his friends and neighbors for his big heart and joyful sense of humor.
He will be greatly missed. Gerald was a long-standing member of Woodlake Lutheran Church where his memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday with visitation one hour prior.
