Olga Johnson, 1920-2015

Funeral services for Olga M. Johnson, 95, of Albert Lea will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Silver Lake Lutheran Church. The Rev. Randy Baldwin will officiate. Interment will be at Silver Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Olga died Thursday, March 12, 2015, at St. John’s Lutheran Community surrounded by her family.
Olga Marie Johnson was born February 17, 1920, to Andrew and Hilda (Watney) Bergeson in Ossian, Iowa. She was baptized in Ossian. Olga grew up in Albert Lea and attended Albert Lea School. After school, Olga helped at home and worked at Woolworth’s.
On June 8, 1941, Olga was united in marriage to Kenneth Johnson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Together they had six children.
Olga was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She stayed at home with her children while they were growing up; she later worked as a receptionist for a dental office. Olga was a member of Silver Lake Lutheran Church where she had been very active in many areas including quilting, ladies groups and serving as a council member. Olga and Ken were members of the Eagles Club, they enjoyed dancing and she was an avid bowler. Olga was a talented seamstress, even making wedding dresses. Blessed be her memory.
Survivors include her son, John (Jeanne) Johnson; daughters Barb (Jerry) Sveen, Ruth (Paul) Moe, Becky (John) Severtson and Jan (Harold) Smithson; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Johnson; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nina (Paul) Emmons; and many nieces and nephews.
Olga was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; son, Erling; 1 grandson; 3 great-granddaughters; brothers Harold, Howard, Joe and Art and sisters Gertie and Sally.
