It only took one game for the Albert Lea softball team to score more runs against Mankato West than it had in the last 18 meetings.
During that span, the Scarlets outscored the Tigers 243-6.
Albert Lea gave the back-to-back Big Nine Conference champs a competitive game Tuesday but fell 10-7 at Mankato.
“I was pleased with the way the girls played,” said Tigers coach Dan Harms. “We played up to (Mankato West’s) level.”
Kassi Hardies led Albert Lea at the plate with two hits, five RBIs and a run scored.
“Kassi continues to swing a good bat,” Harms said. “When she’s squaring up the ball just jumps off her bat. There’s no doubt about that.”
Hanna Schilling led Albert Lea from the pitching circle. She pitched six innings and gave up 10 runs, eight earned runs and five walks.
Next, the Tigers will host Owatonna at 5 p.m. Thursday.
