St. John’s Auxiliary
St. John’s Auxiliary met at 10:30 a.m. March 16 in St. John’s chapel. President Jan Jerdee welcomed everyone and shared a poem about St. Patrick’s Day. They sang “Softly and Tenderly” accompanied by Irene Goskeson on the piano.
Auxiliary Secretary Bonnie Schneider read the minutes of the Feb. 16 meeting. LeAnn Knutson gave the treasurer’s report.
Activities Director Shirley Leeman reported that there were 754 volunteer hours for the month of February. She also announced the activities planned for the month of April:
April 1: 2 p.m. spring tea party
April 2: 9:30 a.m. shut-in service at First Lutheran Church
April 3: 4 p.m. Good Friday Service
April 5: 10 a.m. Easter Worship Service
April 7: 10:30 a.m. L.A. Sasse music
April 9: 10:30 a.m. Blake School Orchestra from the Cities
April 11: 10:30 a.m. Music with Donnell
April 24: 10:30 a.m. Kent Larson music
April 29: 10:30 a.m. Chris VonArx
April 30: 2 p.m. retirement party for Judy Olson.
At 4 pm. on Mondays there will be watercolor painting. All of the usual activities for the month such as crafts, bingo, current events, card club and others will also be available.
Vice President Les Harmon read the names of residents celebrating March birthdays and the birthday song was sung.
Churches thanked for serving Sunday coffee were Bethlehem Lutheran, Women Veterans and Hayward Lutheran. Sunday escorts for chapel worship were Ascension Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran. More people could be used for Sunday mornings escorting residents to service at 10 a.m.
They had a sing-a-long accompanied by Goskeson. Jerdee gave more Irish sayings.
The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
