Northbridge Mall has been a mainstay in Albert Lea for several decades.
Privately owned, the mall was purchased by Frank Carrington in 1986 and it opened in 1987. It anchors Shopko and Herberger’s and has approximately 250,000 feet.
Marketing director Shan Kehret, who has been with the Albert Lea mall for about four months after coming from the Oak Park Mall in Austin, said presently there are 25 stores.
Kehret said the mall has a variety of stores to fit everyone’s shopping needs.
“You can get anything from clothing, a good book, and financial needs, to a date night with supper and a good movie,” Kehret said.
She has planned some new events for the mall, including the recent “Children’s Royal Tea Party. In July, the mall will hosts an event for women called Lipstick, Laughter and Lemonade. At that event, there will be vendors for women to check out.
Kehret said Northbridge Mall is unique and has the opportunity for people to start up a small business.
“The mall offers great quality shopping with their controlled climate all under one roof with lots of different events to bring you into the mall,” she said.
In the upcoming year, she said she wants to continue striving for improvement to the mall. She hopes to get more events to bring people in. She said they are always looking for unique quality stores to start up their business.
