Shinefest will continue this weekend with a number of programs for the community.
Rocking the Block will continue with the mission of completing seven houses this week. This project is similar to “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” according to Shinefest organizer Jim Troe. Anyone is welcome to help and can contact Troe at 507-402-3410 to get involved.
Shinefest activities come to a head on Saturday with a school clothes giveaway from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, oil changes from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dave Syverson Auto Center and a block party beginning at 4 p.m. at Morin Park.
The clothes giveaway and oil changes are designed for families in need. For those who don’t want to give blood, volunteers are welcome. To help with the blood drive, call Dale Grotsun at 507-383-2766.
