Albert Lea girls’ swimming team stays perfect

With a victory in its final dual of the season, the Albert Lea girls’ swimming team stayed perfect.
The Tigers took first place in 10 of 12 events Thursday to win 91-89 at Owatonna and improve to 9-0 in dual meets.
Lindsey Horejsi and Anna Andersen won all four of their events; Ahnika Jensen won three; Emily Taylor, Bailey Sandon and Hannah Schwemmler, two; and Haley Simon and Samantha Nielsen, one.
Horejsi won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.18, which was more than 10 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Hanna Roberts of Owatonna. Horejsi also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.61 and was part of the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Andersen took first in the 50 freestyle in 25.24 seconds and won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:37.77, which was 13.64 seconds ahead of the next finisher. She was also part of the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle relay teams.
Jensen won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:22.37 and was part of the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.
Taylor and Schwemmler both took first place in one individual event and one relay, while Sandon took gold as part of two relay teams. Nielsen and Simon were each part of one winning relay team.
Next, Albert Lea will compete in the Big Nine Conference meet at noon Oct. 31 at St. Thomas University in St. Paul.
