Craig Clausen, 80, of Ellendale passed away peacefully surrounded by family Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015.

He is survived by his loving wife, Clarice; sons David (Lori) Clausen, Steven (Jean) Clausen and Christopher (Shelly) Clausen; and grandchildren: Samantha, Dain, Adyn, Benjamin and Anna.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clayton and Oma (Halling) Clausen of Albert Lea.

Craig was born Nov. 12, 1935, in Albert Lea. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1954, was the Minnesota state individual golf champion that same year and is a member of the Albert Lea High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He attended St. Olaf College in Northfield and graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

On Aug. 16, 1958, he was united in marriage to Clarice Loken, to whom he was married for 57 years. Dr. Clausen had dental practices in Ellendale and Albert Lea for a total of 45 years. He was active in First Lutheran Church of Ellendale, singing in the choir and serving in a variety of offices.  He was also an active member in the community. Craig’s hobbies included hunting, snowmobiling, music, theater, golf and the Minnesota Gopher football team — a season ticket holder since 1960.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the Tuesday service at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea following the memorial service. In lieu of memorials, please donate to a favorite charity.
