Darice Ann Hamberg was born Feb. 1, 1955, in Albert Lea, where she spent her entire life. She passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at 60. She was a nurse for 40 years and she was employed at Good Samaritan Society of Albert Lea for over half her career. In recent years, she worked at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea as a phone advice nurse. One of her passions was making treats, creating crafts and putting together gift baskets for people to show her appreciation. It brought her immeasurable joy to be able to share such delight. She also enjoyed shopping and reading in her spare time.
God was a prominent figure in Darice’s life. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and attended worship regularly. She was also trained as a parish nurse and offered her services there during the week. She was a member of the Moose Club as well. Her family and friends were immensely important to her and she would go out of her way to help someone or simply to make them smile. The world lost a wonderful soul, dear friend and loving family member. She will be remembered fondly.
Darice is preceded in death by her father, Donald Aske, and stepfather, Maubro Ochoa.
She is survived by her husband, Steven Hamberg; daughter, Danielle Hamberg; mother, Pauline Ochoa; sisters Lynn (Jim) Avelar and Linda (Stanley) Miller; nieces and nephews Derrick (Becky) Avelar, Carole (Damian) Cardona, Tomye (Tim) Watts, Michael Bagstad, Cheri Bagstad, Lisa (Ken) Cheever, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Bagstad and Jonathan (Tammi) Bagstad; along with many other relatives and friends.
