Editorial: Browser causes problems for online readers

A few people have contacted the Tribune in the last few weeks who are unable to view stories on our website.
They have said they go on to view a story but are unable to see the text of the story and that the lines are grayed out.
A common thread has been that these people who are having problems are using a version of Internet Explorer to view the site.
After reviewing these concerns, our information technology department has recommended that those people viewing the Tribune’s website through Internet Explorer consider changing to a different Internet browser. Our website does not work well with this browser.
While it is impossible to test our website with all of the browsers available, some that we know work well are Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari, to name a few. These are the ones the Tribune staff use at the office and have not had any problems.
We encourage readers to make the switch as the Tribune’s website provides breaking news updates throughout each day. We apologize for any inconvenience.
