The Freeborn County Historical Museum’s lecture series concludes its fall season with “Historically Speaking: 100 Years of Presidential Campaign Buttons.” Jim Munyer will share his vast collection of campaign buttons and will lead a discussion of the elections that they represent.
According to a press release, Gary Schindler, lecture series coordinator, said Munyer’s collection is impressive and represents a variety of messages that the candidates wished to communicate in their run for the White House. Through the stories that the buttons tell, attendees will see the public “liked Ike,” the strength in the Bull Moose party of Teddy Roosevelt and the youth of the Kennedy candidates.
The lecture will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday and will include a thirty minute question and answer period. The lectures are free to museum members and $5 for the general public. Refreshments will be served at the event.
