50 years ago: 1965
• Tom Colby scored on an 80-yard touchdown run for the Wells High School football team in its 20-10 victory over Lakeville. Pete Hochreiter and Bob Prange also had touchdowns for the Wildcats.
• Kiester won the Border League football title with a 7-0 record after defeating Elmore 42-14. Larry Olsen and Dave Thompson each scored two touchdowns for Kiester.
• Ellendale tied with Medford for the Gopher Conference title after defeating Morristown 32-6. Scoring touchdowns for the Raiders were Daryl Paulson, 2, Pat Phillips, 2, and John Hansen.
25 years ago: 1990
• The Albert Lea volleyball team shut out Northfield 3-0 by scores of 15-12, 15-3 and 15-0.
• The Albert Lea volleyball team was defeated by South Central 3-2 by scores of 15-12, 10-15, 14-16, 15-9 and 15-4. Kirstin Hugdahl led South Central with 38 kills. Pam Stoltz and Laura Bisek led the Tigers with 16 kills each. South Central improved its season record to 18-3.
• In District 5A volleyball playoffs, South Central defeated Granada-Huntley-East Chain 3-0 by scores of 15-4, 15-8 and 15-2. Kirstin Hugdahl was a perfect 23 for 23 serving for South Central.
• Jon Goerish gained 56 yards in nine carries for the South Central football team in its 50-0 win against St. Clair in the Section 1 playoffs.
10 years ago: 2005
• The Lake Mills volleyball team raised its season record to 30-6 after defeating Clarion-Goldfield 3-2. Megan Pederson had 25 kills, and Caitlin Moore and Jill Anderson had 10 kills each.
• In a first-round district volleyball game, Lake Mills defeated Garner-Hayfield 3-0 by scores of 25-9, 25-5 and 25-9. Jennie Finer had 23 assists, and Megan Pederson had 16 kills for Lake Mills. Lake Mills won its third straight district title after shutting out Belmond-Klemme 3-0 by scores of 25-17, 25-12 and 25-14. Megan Pederson had 15 kills and Caitlin Moore, 13, for the Bulldogs.
• Ashley Lau had eight kills for the Glenville-Emmons volleyball team in its 3-0 win over LeCenter by scores of 25-19, 25-15 and 25-21.
