For the past 15 years, the Education Foundation of Albert Lea has worked to raise funds to provide the students of Albert Area Schools with increased learning opportunities. From its first year, when it helped cover costs of items in the new high school, to the present, when it provides funds to help needy students and funds for teachers to supplement materials in their classrooms, the Education Foundation’s sole commitment is to the students of District 241.
One of the foundation’s established funds, the Student Assistance Fund, provides assistance to needy students, enabling them to participate in athletics and other extra-curricular programs, such as music and drama. This fund, although endowed, is sadly unable to meet the increased call for assistance. What to do?
The board of the Education Foundation recently launched the 241 Challenge to challenge the community, alumni and others committed to supporting the work of the foundation. The challenge is this: We’re looking for 241 donors committed to giving $241 for two years, four years or one year. This money will be used to supplement the endowed Student Assistance Fund, which is regrettably unable to meet increased applications for assistance at this time.
Tax-deductible contributions should be sent to the Education Foundation of Albert Lea, P. O. Box 828, Albert Lea, MN 56007. Please indicate on your check your desire to provide $241 for two, four or one year. Information about the Education Foundation and its various funds and activities can be found on the website at www.efal-us.org.
Thank you for the wonderful support you have provided for the students of Albert Lea Area Schools through the Education Foundation. We encourage you to accept and meet the 241 Challenge!
