Luke Callahan, 1938-2016

Memorial services for Luke T. Callahan of Albert Lea will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Russell Scepaniak will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Luke died Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was 77.
Luke was born June 7, 1938, the son of Leonard and Rachel (Gavle) Callahan. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1956. On Jan. 18, 1958, he was united in marriage to Loretta (Nechanicky) at St Aiden’s Catholic Church in Ellendale. Luke was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church.
Luke worked at Wilson & Co. for over 30 years, then worked at St John’s Lutheran Community. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Vikings and Twins and going to the casinos.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta; children Tony (Cathy) Callahan of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Julie (Bob) Stephenson of Albert Lea and David (Cindy) Callahan of Clarks Grove; grandchildren Anna Adams (fiance, Matt), Janelle and Ray Stephenson, Logan and Dakota Callahan and Jessica and Meranda; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Gage, Hunter and Tucker; many nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters Paul (Pauline) Callahan of Wisconsin, Therese (Tom) Reardon of Minneapolis, Maureen Carlson of Albert Lea, Harriet Anderson of Arizona and Mike (Kathy) Callahan of Ellendale; sister-in-law, Dorothy Callahan; brother-in-law, Danny Naudin; brothers-in-law David (Jody) Nechanicky and Paul (Marilyn) Nechanicky; and sister-in -law, Bonnie Nechanicky.
Luke was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Rachel Callahan; and brothers and sisters-in-law Vince (Peggy) Callahan, Jim (Bev) Callahan, Pat (Alan) Aanerud, Betty Ann Naudin, Tony Callahan, Judy Callahan, Daniel Callahan, Dennis Nechanicky and Elroy Carlson.
