The Albert Lea American Legion recently installed officers into the newest part of its Legion family, the American Legion Riders Chapter 56.
Approximately 30 to 40 members have signed up as of now. These men and women are from the Albert Lea, Alden, Glenville and Hartland American Legion posts with more area posts showing interest.
According to a press release, it doesn’t matter what American Legion post you are a member of, as long as you are a part of the Legion family a person can ride.
The American Legion Riders were formed in fall of 1993 in Garden City, MIichigan, as a means to provide an atmosphere where post, auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion members who share an enthusiasm for motorcycles can come together in a family-oriented environment.
To be eligible for the group members must hold membership in and be in good standing with The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary or Sons of The American Legion, members must be legally registered motorcycle owners or be the legally registered owner’s spouse within the state of registration, all operators must be properly licensed and insured per state laws and all members must obey motor-vehicle laws in the state in which they are operating a motorcycle or riding as a passenger.
