The Tigers are off to a strong start this season

The Albert Lea boys’ tennis team swept Faribault 7-0 Thursday at home.

“The guys played a solid match today,” said Albert Lea coach Tom Dyrdal. “We had strong play from each spot in our singles and doubles lineup.”

The Tigers’ Taylor Herfindahl, Foster Otten, Schafer Overgaard and Grant Herfindahl swept each of their singles games.

“This year’s team has the strongest singles lineup we’ve had in quite a few years and that showed today,” Dyrdal said. “Our senior captains Herfindahl, Otten and Overgaard will be providing strong singles play and leadership for us this season.”

Doubles teams Sam Ehrhardt and Nikk Christianson, Michael Savelkoul and Aaron Zogg, and Andrew Huerta-Ortiz and Keith Grzybowski shut Faribault out in all but one of their games.

Albert Lea (2-0 overall, 2-0 Big Nine Conference) will play in a triangular next starting at 9 a.m. Saturday against Austin and Rochester Mayo in Rochester.
