Veteran Heritage Day planned

The ninth annual Veteran Heritage Day will be April 30 at the American Legion in St. Ansgar, Iowa. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m.
According to a press release, those who wish to attend are encouraged to come early for rolls and coffee. Introductions and story sharing starts at 10 a.m. Char’s Polka Band will play polkas, waltzes and patriotic music. A lunch will be served by Heather Mitchell and Paradise Pizza.
Master of ceremonies for the event will be Ken Borchardt of Grafton, Iowa. Borchardt was a mechanic and Iraq War veteran with the 1133rd Company out of Mason City. The former master of ceremonies for many years, World War II Wasp veteran Liz Strofus recently passed away. A special tribute to her will be planned for Veteran’s Appreciation Day, Sept. 10.
Veterans, spouses and the public are welcome to attend the event, which is free.
