Laura was born April 15, 1962, in Albert Lea, the daughter of John and Edna (Olsen) Herfendal. She attended Albert Lea schools and met her soulmate, Brett Attig, when she was 14. Brett and Laura were married on May 30, 1981, at Grace Lutheran Church. They made their life and raised their family in Albert Lea.
Laura died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at home of an apparent heart attack, just days short of their 35th wedding anniversary.
She worked at Trails Truck Stop in the past and most recently worked in the kitchen at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community.
Her fun-loving spirit made her a friend to all. She embraced everyone and put a bright spot in the lives of everyone she met. She not only enjoyed watching comedies, but was a comedy act within herself. She enjoyed her many travels with Brett and the girls, and she loved tooling around on their motorcycle. The past years brought the greatest joy to her life, as she was truly blessed by her grandchildren: Aaron, Andy, Makenzie, Mason, Alexis, Layla and William.
Laura will be greatly missed by her family: husband, Brett; mother, Edna Herfendal; two daughters, Amy (Mike) Woitas and children Aaron, Andy, MaKenzie and Mason, and Bobbie Attig (Jed Bair) and children Alexis and Layla; honorary grandson, William Bair; brothers and sisters Larry (Lisa) Herfendal, Annette (Owen) Besco, John (Steph) Herfendal, Gary (Jodi) Herfendal, Wendy Kuiper and Darla Stewart; in-laws Howard (Imogene) Attig and Marlene (Gary) Bergeson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Marlon (Wanda) Attig, Kim (David) Moen, Jason (Sarah) Attig, Mark (Casie) Attig and Janel (Robert) Heideman; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Herfendal; nephew, Tony Herfendal; brothers-in-law Ted Stewart and John Kuiper; and aunt, Kairen Cummings.
The family said the loss of Laura leaves a big hole in their hearts, but they will cherish the loving memories forever.
In Laura’s words, “It’s time to go . . . Love you, with all my heart, to the moon and back.”
