MINNEAPOLIS — November’s race for Minnesota’s 1st District seat in Congress will be a rematch.
Jim Hagedorn defeated Steve Williams Tuesday to win the Republican nomination for the southern district. Hagedorn will again face Democratic Rep. Tim Walz in November. Hagedorn had the party’s endorsement.
Walz beat Hagedorn by nearly 10 points in 2014.
Walz is a top Democrat in the House on veterans and agricultural issues who was first elected to Congress in 2006. Hagedorn comes from a political family — his father represented the area in Congress from 1975 until 1983.
