Nancy Metz, 1949-2016

Nancy Sue Metz, 67, of Manassas, Virginia, formerly of Albert Lea, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at Novant Health – UVA Haymarket Medical Center in Haymarket, Virginia.
Nancy was born Feb. 27, 1949, in Minnesota. She was the daughter of the late Leroy Gilbertson and Lorraine Dahlen Gilbertson. Nancy was married to Noah J. Metz, who preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2011.
Nancy was a former member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manassas and First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She also enjoyed, and was a member of quilting, book and writing clubs in Albert Lea; and was a member of the Woman’s Club of Manassas Park.
Survivors include her three children, Freda Whetstone and her husband, Keith, of Manassas, Susan League-Mullins and her husband, Shawn, of Front Royal, Virginia, and Noah Metz and his significant other, Angela Minlionica, of Manassas; four siblings, Sharon Koester and her husband, Steve, of Kiester, Carol Gilbertson of Austin, Darrel Gilbertson of Minnesota and Darlene Levisen and her husband, Bob, of Albert Lea; and seven grandchildren, Sami League, Hunter Billmeyer, Kaitlin Whetstone, Heather Whetstone, Noah Anthony Metz, Amy Whetstone and Kendal Metz; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Kim Metz.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Baker-Post Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, in Manassas. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Jeffrey Wilson will officiate. Interment will take place in the Machpelah Cemetery in Manassas.
A celebration of life service will take place at 1 p.m. Sept. 18 at First Lutheran Church, 301 W. Clark St., in Albert Lea.
