The Albert Lea volleyball team traveled to Rochester to take on John Marshall Tuesday night.

The Tigers hung with the Rockets all night, but were unable to overtake the host school, losing in three sets.

“We started out strong in the first game with a couple of big blocks,” said Tigers coach Cathy Baumann. “Unfortunately we lost Courtney Harmdierks to sprained ankle in the first game, but Jenna Seavey stepped in and played a strong game throughout the night.”

The Tigers lost the first two games by a score of 25-23, then took the third game into extra points, but couldn’t muster enough offense, losing 26-24.

“There were many long, hard-fought rallies tonight,” Baumann said. “I am proud of the girls on how they pushed through adversity and the circumstances of the night. They really pulled together as a team. Unfortunately, we couldn’t pull out the wins.”

Senior Sarah DeHaan led the Tigers with 11 kills and Camryn Keyeski finished with 16 digs. Paige Landsman had 16 assists.

The Tigers are now 2-2 on the season.

Albert Lea will host Rochester Mayo Thursday night.

Start time for the match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
