Memorial services for Archie N. Foss, 94, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Eileen Woyen will officiate.

Military honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion honor guards. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Archie died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Archie N. Foss was born Nov. 26, 1922, in London, the son of Ole J. and Annie (Swensrud) Foss. He grew up and attended school in London. He was in the Merchant Marines off and on from 1945 to 1955 — where he mostly sailed on cargo ships and troop transports — but also oil tankers and first-class passenger ships. He traveled to many places.

On Aug. 10, 1957, Archie married Delores Machacek at Wayside Chapel in Austin. He worked for many years at Streater. He and Delores moved to Montrose, Colorado, after retirement and then back to Albert Lea to be closer to family. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting.

Archie is survived by daughters Lori (Richard) Nelson and Linda (Robert) Reamon; granddaughters Mollie (Josh) Otters, Jillayna (Matt) Weyers, Nicole, Kyla and Jessica Reamon; great-grandchildren Miles and Lilyana Weyers; sister, Olga Beach; brothers-in-law Ronald (Beverly), Daryle (Dorothy), Verne (Nancy) and Kevin; and sister-in-law, Sue Machacek.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Delores; brothers Lawrence, Jay and Edward; and brothers-in-law Robert Beach and De Lyle Machacek.
