Virginia Harms, 1923-2017

Memorial services for Virginia H. Harms, 93, of Albert Lea will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Stohlmann will officiate. Virginia died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at Oak Park Place in Albert Lea.

Virginia Hazel Harms was born Dec. 12, 1923, in Clay County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mildred (Biggins) Selby. She grew up and attended school in Hartley, Iowa.

On Feb. 6, 1943, Virginia married LeRoy W. Harms in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church — including the quilting group — along with the Red Hat Society and the Senior Center. Virginia had a true love for the farm and enjoyed working along with her husband. She enjoyed gardening, working, mowing her lawn, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.

Virginia is survived by her sons Reginald (Sheri) of Albert Lea and Roland (Kari) of Belleview, Florida; grandchildren Eric (Andrea), Sean (Jill), Dawn, Rachel (Steven) and Jill (Keaton); and great-grandchildren Ashley, Ellie, Hailey and Luke.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; and her parents.
