Function and fashion come together for these elementary teachers

Being a teacher is no easy task. Whether teaching in the classroom or supervising outside on the playground, teachers have to be ready for the unknown as part of their jobs overseeing a room full of children. Meet three teachers who prove that you can have both
practicality and good fashion.

Model: Kristin Kyllo
Lives in: Albert Lea
Career: Third-grade teacher at Sibley Elementary School
Interests: Running, reading, binge-watching TV shows and spending time with family and friends
Favorite stores and brands to shop: Target, American Eagle, LulaRoe, boutiques and random online shops.
Practical style advice: I like to wear clothing that is easy to move in and will be comfortable all day. Each day is different and you never know what you will be doing — so wear things that allow for crawling on the floor or playing games at recess. Also, always have a backup plan — leave some extra choices at work, such as an extra sweater or an alternative choice for something to wear.

Model: Melinda Talamantes
Lives in: Albert Lea with her husband, Ray
Career: Fourth-grade teacher at Lakeview Elementary School
Interests: Reading, hiking and hanging out with friends
Favorite stores and brands to shop: Old Navy, Gap, Target
Practical style advice: My leggings are my favorite piece to mix and match. I wear leggings with a variety of tops. My favorites are over-sized sweaters and soft, comfortable fabrics. I add a scarf, necklace or a cardigan to make it look like a different outfit. I like clothes that I can wash, and I don’t wear anything that requires me to dry clean. I don’t have time for that, and I always get marker on my clothes! I spend a lot of time with 9- and 10-year-olds, so I get messy.
