The United South Central softball team didn’t get its season off to the best start Thursday afternoon.
The Rebels took on softball powerhouse Sleepy Eye-St. Mary’s and fell by a score of 15-0.
“(St. Mary’s) is a very good team that has a great tradition,” Rebels coach Paul Meyer said. “Although the score was not what we wanted, we saw some good things that we can build on.”
The Knights scored 11 runs in the second inning, taking advantage of some errors and walks committed by the Rebels.
For USC offensively, the freshmen pairing of Kylie Loegering and Kaylee Carlson went 2-3.
“It was a good, early test that will definitely help us moving into Monday’s conference opener,” Meyer said.
USC will host Medford on Monday.
